Tradition being Thursday night for the past 39 years is about to change for the 2009 Season at State Park Speedway. Long anticipated by many and dreaded by others a decision has been made to change the scheduled race day to Saturday Nights starting this year.
With many economic changes SPS feels that this move is necessary to keep up with ever changing markets in both business and recreation. With a direct focus on making local short track racing more fan friendly as well as competitor friendly it seems Saturday fits those criteria for a good portion of the people within the racing community. Saturday frees up more time to prepare from a drivers standpoint as well as a fans standpoint.
SPS feels very strongly that changes are both necessary and inevitable in any business and racing is no different. When I speak of SPS I need to emphasize it is not just me but everyone that donates their time as well as gives me their input to help make SPS a staple in racing. I can not thank everyone enough that has supported me in the last three years and stood behind me in these trying times to put SPS back on the map. Thank You is not saying enough for those that donate countless hours every week to prepare for race night as well as those that are working feverishly during the off season to bring awareness back to racing in Wausau. Without these people I would not be able to accomplish both personal and business goals for SPS.
With that said I hope that everyone involved in racing is able to appreciate and take advantage of the Saturday night change for this year at SPS.
Thank You!!
Todd Handrick – State Park Speedway
